Kana and her friends design a bottle rocket and launch it into space, even though it might not get there at all. However, just when the rocket is completed, a robot suddenly crashes into and destroys it, shortly followed by a pink-haired woman claiming to be a "Galactic Investigator".

FLCL Alternative (Japanese: フリクリ オルタナ ?, Furikuri Orutana) is a sequel anime series to FLCL and FLCL Progressive. In Japan, Alternative is being screened theatrically since September 7, 2018, and premiered on September 8, 2018 on Toonami.
I personally think Alternative conveys the themes of FLCL while being it's own thing, which is a calmer version of FLCL. I will not venture to compare the show to the masterpiece that was FLCL, but it is definitely still worth watching. Alternative’ s animation is rather tame compared to the two seasons prior, but it still carries that signature FLCL flair. The first and second season have a bouncy quality that utilizes cartoon logic. Uzis materialize and shoot endless streams of bullets, while headphones drill into a 14-year-old’s skull.

FLCL: Alternative, the third and final season centers on the misadventures of 17-year-old Kana and her friends, Mossan, Hijiri and Pets. Living a seemingly normal life, the group’s lives are flipped upside down when Mecha falls from the sky and arrives with the guitar-wielding Haruko Haruhara.
